Ballet Programs

A comprehensive training program that follows a graded syllabus to develop physical alignment technique, strength, flexibility, musicality, and the quality of performance. Advancement through the program is based on a student’s level of attendance, mastery of skills, dedication, and accomplishment, not on his or her age or social standing. Students may expect to spend two or three years mastering their art in each of the levels offered.

Primary Ballet I – The children are introduced to classical ballet technique. Elementary barre exercises with emphasis on correct posture, introduction to center and diagonal movements. Intensified work on strength and flexibility.
Ages 7-8 one 90 min. class/week

Primary Ballet II – Further development of control and balance with increased theory, including complete positions of the body. Barre, center work and introduction to diagonal combinations.
Ages 8-10 two 90 min. class/week

Primary Ballet III – Intense development of body awareness, special awareness, in combination with control and balance of the body, in the standard ballet stance. Increased knowledge of vocabulary and theory are taught, including complete positions of the body. Barre, center work and diagonal combinations are longer and more complex in this level. Epaulmente and coordination of the arms are introduced.
Ages 9-11 two 90 min. class/week

Ballet Level A – Training intensifies with further study of the coordination and connection between movements. Barre, center work and diagonal combinations.
Ages 11-12 three 90 min. class/week

Pre-Pointe – this class is designed to concentrate on preparing students for pointe work. In this 30min. class, students will practice barre exercises, use thera-bands and other props to help achieve flexibility in their feet as well as, strengthening their ankles, legs and feet.
(Recommended for students in Level A).

Ballet Level B – From this level forward, the plasticity, coordination and connection of movements of the arms, legs, feet, head and body are the primary developmental goal. For those deemed ready, a pointe class is added twice a week.
Ages 12-13 four 90 min. class/week + two 45 min. pointe class/week

Ballet Level C – Emphasis placed on greater stability and complexity in the study of positions, adagio, jumps, turns and more. Greater development of strength, flexibility and quality of the movement.
Ages 13-14 five 90 min. class/week of which two Pointe classes are included

Ballet Level D – Intensified study of adagio, pirouettes and development of ballon (quality of jumping). Use of space is emphasized and length of combinations are increased to develop stamina.
Ages 14+ five 90 min. class/week of which two Pointe classes are included

Ballet Level E – For our most advanced dancer, this class is designed to increase awareness, capability and practice, with the most complex technical skills in the ballet curriculum. This class is strictly en pointe and the pace of the class is in high gear.
Two 30 min. class/week

Variations Class – this class will provide training and coaching in some of the best known classical variations in dance. Though a group class or semi private class, this 75 minute experience will enable each student to practice and perform variations in front of the instructor individually.
Recommended for Level B, Pointe shoes are not required. Instructor: Ana Luisa Thompson-Konopka

Adult Ballet (Beginner) – This 90 min. class is designed to provide adults an evironment where they can learn formal classical training from the absolute beginner level. Particiapants will be introduced to body placement/alignment, french vocabulary, barre, center and diagonal work. Technical components will be taught in a pace that easy to comprehend, apply and execute.
Dress code: Ballet Slippers, any style/color leotard, pink or black tights for women. Black or white ballet slippers, black tights, fitted sweatpants and t-shirt for men.

Adult Ballet (Intermediate/Advanced) – This 90 min. class is designed for a moderate paced class. Designed to emphasize balance, coordination and connection between movements. Advancements on technical skills, french vocabulary, barre, center and diagonal work will be an area of concentration. Offered to adults with basic or intermediate experience.

Adult Ballet Barre – This 60 min. class is all the rage in the fitness world! This class is designed to shape, tone and stretch the body. In addition, participants will attain body awareness/proper alignment and master technical elements associated with the classical ballet curriculum. Intermediate to advance experience qualifies for this class.
Dress code: ballet attire, workout attire permitted. Ballet slippers required.

Teen Ballet – This class is designed to provide beginner to intermediate training and education to adolescence that are interested in the fundamentals of classical ballet. Introduction to ballet terminology, ballet barre exercises, center work and ballet combinations from the diagonal are included in this beginner class.
Ages 12 to 18
one 90 min. class/week
Dress code: Hunter Green camisole leotard, pink tights, pink ballet slippers. Black or white ballet slippers, black tights, fitted sweatpants and t-shirt for boys.

Boys Class – Finally a class created for BOYS ONLY! This class taught by our professional male instructor will give 75 min. of training in classical ballet in an athletic building way. Gain muscle, strength, endurance, agility and learn to jump higher than before! This class will also teach you classical vocabulary and terminology to heighten your experience and education. This class is *Tuition free (16 weeks).

Dress code: White t-shirt, black sweat pants, leggings, white socks, white ballet slippers
